Sisters of St. Joseph of London

Mission

The Sisters of St. Joseph were founded in France in 1650 and originally cared for orphans and the imprisoned. We instructed young girls and were at home among the poor. Our desire was to look for the unmet needs of the culture at the time. We have continued this mission into the present aiding refugees, offering hospitality at a soup kitchen, spiritual direction, wellness, education, art, chaplaincy, parish ministry, and working with issues of systemic justice.

Charism

We are women who have stated our intention to live simply, to love deeply and to listen attentively for the ways in which God may be always urging us to the 'more'. We express these desires in the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. Inspired by the original fire of our first Sisters in Le Puy, France we desire that all persons may know God's inclusive love.
