About Us
Impelled by the love of Christ, manifested especially in the shedding of his Blood, and aware of the needs of the Church, Gaspar del Bufalo longed to have "a thousand tongues to move hearts to the Precious Blood of Christ."
St. Gaspar was an excellent preacher not only in the pulpit, but also in the example of his life. He attracted a group of like- minded priests and brothers uniting them by a Bond of Charity, instead of vows. We are not diocesan nor are we religious, but a Society of Apostolic Life. He also involved the laity in his missions.
The Missionaries of the Precious Blood are a fraternal community of priests and brothers founded by St. Gaspar del Bufalo in 1815. Bonded through charity by a promise of fidelity, we are prayerfully motivated by the spirituality of precious blood of Jesus Christ to serve the needs of the Church as discerned through the signs of times and the light of the Gospel.
Through the diverse gifts and ministries, the Missionaries remain faithful to the traditions of the Church. In the spirit of joy we strive to serve all people, especially the poor, with care, compassion, hope, and hospitality, with an emphasis on reconciliation and renewal.
As Missionaries our Mission is to preach and witness to the Word of God, and our Spirituality is to live and embrace the spirit of the Precious Blood, and our Community life commits us to supporting and nurturing one another.
