Mission
In response to God's love and to the "I Thirst" of Jesus on the Cross, we, Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus, respond freely by committing ourselves to share in the mission of Jesus in the Church and world of today. Committed to Jesus, we seek to make His mission our mission, and to proclaim the Good News by our lives as contemplatives-in action and our sharing in community life.
Charism
As Faithful Companions of Jesus our hearts are pierced by the "I Thirst" of Jesus in today's world, heard particularly in the ever widening gap between those who are poor and those who are rich. This cry permeates our reading of Scripture, our living of the Vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience, and our attempts to help others to live the fullness of their vocation.
In the Spirit of our Foundress, Marie Madeleine d'Houet, we strive to live a companionship that bridges cultural divides and promotes the dignity of women in church and society. We exert our influence to challenge unjust attitudes and behaviours towards women, while consciously and courageously working for justice among all persons.
Our Foundress has confided certain works to us: the education of youth, especially the poor, the work of retreats and missions. By reading the signs of the times and through discernment using the principles developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola, today according to place and circumstance, we engage in whatever works are more conducive to the service and glory of God and the good of all God's people. Above, all, however, God calls us to be Faithful Companions of Jesus whose lives reveal Jesus to the world.
