About Us
"No talent too humble nor gift too high that you cannot offer it to God"
Our charism is one of suffering and joy, the dying and the rising, of the Paschal Mystery as is indicative of our name, "Precious Blood". We are called to make the Precious Blood of Jesus, fruitful among all peoples by our self giving efforts to lighten the burden of those who are suffering through our spiritual, emotional, psychological, physical, material support and assistance. We serve God and our Church through various apostolates.
EDUCATION at all levels, especially for women and children in Africa is still our main apostolate. This includes orphanages, primary school, high school, college/university, seminary and adult education programs. Our sisters can be found in various levels of HEALTH CARE, such as nursing, administration, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, laboratories, physio therapy, activation programs, senior care, etc. All sisters participate in DOMESTIC WORK in all of our houses. PASTORAL MINISTRY, spiritual and retreat direction are an important aspect of our work. Others areas include SOCIAL WORK, ARTS AND CRAFTS and MUSIC. In North America, we have sisters in education, health care, pastoral ministry, spiritual and retreat direction, social work, activation programs, as well as arts and crafts.
Mission
We are an international multicultural congregation of missionary sisters founded in South Africa in 1885 by a trappist, Abbot Francis Pfanner. We endeavour to respond to Christ's cry of "I Thirst", in ourselves, in our communities, our society and in our environment. As Eucharistic women in this new millennium, we strive to live the Pachal mystery joyfully, gratefully and compassionately. "Pray and work" is the motto handed down to us through our Benedictine heritage. The ever-new and ever-deeper encounter with the Lord is the core of our religious missionary life. Our striving for a fuller union with Christ through Sacred Scripture, daily Eucharist, liturgy of the hours, private prayers, and community life, will become manifest in a life of faith, hope and love as we encounter all people and our service for them.
